Has It Been a Week Already?

Whoops. Time flies when you’re lollygagging. Let’s see … what’s been happening since last we spoke?

I got a call from my boss asking me why we weren’t moving any faster on document updates. The truth is, I don’t know where to start. I have, literally, hundreds of documents to update and the boss is forever changing and adding things. Whenever I explain that this makes my job difficult, I get some of this: “you need to be more flexible” and “we lose money if we don’t keep up with the industry” and “you’re too slow. Why are you so slow? I could do this so much faster.” And so I’ve been on this endless cycle of updating a single document only to find out that two weeks after updating it, there’s been another update.

So, on last week’s phone call, I said to the B (B is for boss), and not for the first time, “What’s priority? I’m jumping from document to document with no rhyme or reason. And it’s difficult to task switch this much.” So, he sat with another employee and they knocked out a list of priorities. In one list of documents that need to be updated.

A few days later, the B texted me in a panic because we are potentially paying for a job because some other documents haven’t been updated, so, obviously, these are now our top priority. I’m at my wit’s end.
